Calcaneal Fracture

A fracture of the heel bone typically occurs as a result of high impact trauma. Treatment of a calcaneal fracture is dependent upon the severity of the injury. X-rays and other imaging studies will be necessary to determine the extent of the injury.

In severe calcaneal fractures surgery may required to put the bones back in proper alignment followed by immobilization to allow them to heal. For simple calcaneal fractures immobilization with non weight bearing alone may all that is required.

Footsupplystore.com carries a variety of products to aid in the treatment and recovery of a calcaneal fracture. A removable Cam Walker is often used to provide protection and restrict motion of the foot and ankle allowing the heel bone to heal properly. Once the bone is healed additional support of the foot may be required.  Footsupplystore.com has a wide selection of orthotics and heel lifts available to support and aid in proper foot function.
