Ankle Fracture

An ankle fracture is damage to the continuity of one or more bones that make up the ankle joint. It can be partial or complete in nature. Treatment of an ankle fracture is dependent upon the severity of the injury. X-rays and other imaging studies will be necessary to determine the extent of the injury.

In severe ankle fractures surgery is required to put the bones back in proper alignment followed by immobilization to allow them to heal.
